Radiophysicist

Charalambos Karakalos (in Greek: Χαράλαμπος Καράκαλος), from the Hellenic Atomic Energy Commission ("Demokritos" research center) did the first radiographs of the Antikythera Mechanism and, together with his wife Emily, counted the teeth of the remaining gears of the Mechanism.

Owner of X-Tek Systems (now Nikon Metrology), he designed the "Blade Runner", a special X-ray tomography device that was brought to the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, in 2005, in order to scan the fragments of the Antikythera Mechanism.
